The Beginning
On an island in the Caribbean in 1990, two entrepreneurs came up with a concept that later culminated in what is known as CorTec Software. One brought his deep foodservice industry knowledge, and the other, a career founded in computer software design and development. From the beginning, these two kept in mind how vital profit margins can be to the survival of culinary operations. They wanted to help provide solutions.
Escoffier Software, the precursor to ChefTec and eventually CorTec, was the first inventory management software developed by CSS. Escoffier Software was named after Auguste Escoffier, the French culinary icon and chef who popularized and modernized the tradition of French cuisine, elevating the career of cooking. Choosing the name Escoffier Software was a nod to the refinement and finesse of Auguste Escoffier and the product developed into more than just a simple inventory management tool.
With over twenty-five years of focused experience, Culinary Software Service supplies the most sophisticated and robust food management systems for the foodservice industry. Easily considered the industry-standard, the company has received numerous awards, including the Foodservice Innovator's Award for Excellence.

With this in mind, CSS created the "ChefTec Fund", allowing us to provide software to non-profits to help them meet their goals. Technology's future is important to us too so, we have donated computers to a local school to fill their computer lab. Specifically, CSS is concerned with developing tomorrow's hospitality workforce, just as we are a part of the development of a better future for foodservice operations.
